May 2016 Update

The SEND department are pleased to announce successful completion of The Dyslexia-SpLD Trust project for 2015-2016. This exciting news means that we have worked towards improving outcomes for our students with Dyslexia - SpLD and literacy difficulties.

As a department we have created a quick guide for all teachers on 'the Simple view of reading', to aid teachers planning and support of students within the classroom. The development of this guide has made a clear impact when supporting within the classroom.

We look forward to continuing our work alongside The Dyslexia-SpLD, in order to improve outcomes for all students.

Felixstowe Academy has updated all policies and procedures in line with the new Code of Practice that came in to effect as of September 2014. There are three key documents for you to refer to;

1.    The AET SEND policy: This document outlines the vision for all AET Academies with regard to SEND, in relation to how the AET operate.

2.    Felixstowe Academy’s SEND information report: This document outlines key information regarding Special Educational Needs and Disability. It has been developed        in collaboration with students and parents, to consider all viewpoints. The document remains in draft form until it is ratified by Governors.

3.    Felixstowe Academy Provision Map: This document provides greater detail regarding the current support structures in place, and how the assessment process               takes place.
