Excitement is building for two Felixstowe Academy Trampolining teams as they prepare for County Finals at Stoke High School in May.

Ellie Lockwood explains how it feels to be heading to the final.

Students from the Academy recently travelled to Stoke High School for the Ipswich and South Suffolk trampolining competition with four teams of participants. The Under 14 and Under 16 teams had to perform two 10-bounce routines and which were both marked and the scores added together.

For many this was the first time they had competed in this competition and for others they were on their third year, so there was a real mix of experience. All the girls were fantastic and rose to the terrifying challenge of performing their set routines in front of people and being scored and Mrs Logan was very proud of them all!

The U16 A team finished a respectable second, only missing out on winning the competition by two points when all the scores were added together. The highlight was the performance of Sophie Clarke who completed a very high tariff routine to get the second highest score in the competition! The U16 B team gained a lot of experience and finished a respectable sixth.

The U14 A team finished a brilliant third with only four points separating the top three schools. Jai Lester-Said and Emily O’Connor received the second and third highest personal scores! The U14 B team finished a respectable seventh as they were hampered by injury and illness after the first compulsory routine.

These results means that Felixstowe Academy will be taking both an U16 and an U14 team to the finals, so we wish them every success as they head to the finals!
