Felixstowe Academy's Year 9 Boys Football Team played their next round of the National Cup recently against East Point Academy (AET). This round was the same round as the Year 11s played the day before, where 128 teams were left in the competition of 720 schools. East Point Academy are a very good team, and had knocked us out of the County Cup a few weeks prior.
East Point Academy started very well, scoring within five minutes, however Felixstowe replied immediately with a great solo effort from Charlie Brown who beat three players and then chipped the keeper from nine yards! This seemed to spur the Felixstowe side on, with our players dominating the game and playing some amazing football. The Year 9 team scored a further three goals before half time, making the score 4-1 at half time.
In the second half, East Point started very well and scored to make the scoreline 4-2. However, again we replied very well and scored straight afterwards, making the score 5-2. With ten minutes left, Felixstowe made four substitutions which changed the organisation of the team, and during this period of the match East Point scored two quick goals making the score 5-4 with 3 minutes left!
This lead to a very tense end to the game but thankfully we held on to WIN 5-4 against and we are now in the last 64 out of 720 schools.
Congratulations to the whole team - a magnificent result!
