Felixstowe Academy Garrison Campus held their Sports Presentation Evening with special guest Montell Douglas – British sprinter and current British record holder for the 100 metres at 11.05 seconds. The aim of the evening was to award and celebrate the students’ successes for the year. The evening started with a photo presentation of students in sport during 2011-2012 accompanied with music from Felixstowe Academy Jazz Band.
Students were awarded for their contribution to school teams with a Certificate of Recognition (Year 7), Half Colours (Year 8), Full Colours (Year 9) and trophy of Sporting Excellence to students in Years 10/11 who have committed four or five years to their school teams.
Main awards went to the best Sports Leaders from Year 9 to Year 13, the Discovery Project (Connor Taylor), Contribution to School Sport (Ellen Spalding), Out of Hours Achievement (James Casburn), Team of the Year (U16 Boys Football Team) and Sports Personality of the Year from Year 7 to Year 13. The presentations finished with an inspiring talk by Montell Douglas. After a closing speech by Terry Duffell, Vice Principal, refreshments were served and there was an opportunity for students and parents/carers to chat informally with Montell who was more than happy to sign autographs and have her photo taken with the students.
