On a beautiful Thursday afternoon the Felixstowe Academy Year 8 Boys Football Team entertained Ormiston Endeavour in their first competitive game since November. Within minutes of kick off some neat inter play between Owen Goodwin and Ryan Chidlow allowed Dan Poxon the opportunity to burst through and finish cooly past the on rushing keeper.
The first 10 minutes were played solely in the Ormiston half and a second goal looked on the cards when Kieran Butcher linked up well with Chidlow who shot just wide when through on goal. Tom Bury in the Felixstowe goal had very little to do throughout and it was no surprise when Felixstowe doubled their lead midway through the half.
Some good play between Jordon Cobbold and Dan Poxon allowed Connah Goddard to fire a cross in that was headed into the net by Tom Lygo. Within minutes the lead had stretched to three when some brilliant individual play from Chidlow allowed him to dance his way through the Ormiston defence and calmly slot past the goal keeper. Half time score 3 – 0!
The second half started with a couple of changes in the line-up, with Ethan Fletcher and Ryan Sanders replacing Jai Aldis and Teddy Mckenzie at full back. Straight from the off Felixstowe were still working hard and went close when Poxon had a shot cannon off the post. Further changes were made with Jack Harding and Max Kent coming on for Goddard and the ever willing Goodwin.
A fourth goal arrived when Jack Harding poked home after a good cross from Butcher. Further home domination was confirmed when an excellent free kick delivery from Chidlow was met by the head of Cobbold to cap a fantastic performance. Just before the end Shane Murphy came on to replace Declan Jarrold and there was still time for Harding to get his second and the games sixth when he went through the defence to fire past the goal keeper. Full time score 6 – 0!
A great performance from all 15 lads who played who worked hard throughout the game. Man of the match goes to Jordon Cobbold for an excellent all round performance.
