9-0 Cup Final Victory Caps Great Season for Year 9 Team!

The Year 9 boys WON their final game against Claydon High School and are now Ipswich and South Suffolk Champions!

The score was 9-0 which topped off a great season for the Year 9 football team; they had already reached the semi-finals of the County Cup, the last 64 out of 800 schools nationally in the English Schools FA Cup and have now won the Ipswich and South Suffolk Cup.

The game was played at Kesgrave High School as this was a neutral ground with a brilliant 4G pitch which suited us as we have some amazing footballers within the year group.  It allowed them to play football on the floor.  We started very well creating a very early chance which went narrowly wide, however in less than five minutes Luke Barnes scored a fantastic goal after some great play from Dan Horton and Vincent Ramilloza

Claydon had a few chances, however these were very limited due to the amount of pressure the Felixstowe Academy team placed upon them, and when they did manage to get a shot away, Adam Hart was always there in goal to prevent them from scoring.  Just before half time Farron Leggett-Gage scored a great header after some brilliant play from Charlie Brown.

Mr Cain and Mr Cumberland spoke to the  team at half time and tried to alter a few things which paid off in the second half as the team really took control of the game and the goals started to fly in.  Charlie Brown scored three, as did Matt Hazell.  Dan Horton also got himself on the score sheet near the end of the game.  There were some fantastic goals scored by the team including Matt chipping and ‘rounding’ the keeper as did Charlie Brown.  The Year 9 team played some fantastic football, probably the best they have ever played and it was a delight to watch the game and be a part of it. Some pictures of the match appear on this page and many more are on the website.

Jamie Calver, also of Year 9, took some great photos for the team and are displayed within the video presentation.

These players have been fantastic this year, not only as footballers but as representatives of the Academy. They were very respectful this year of each team they played and staff members from other schools. The competition organiser even commented how respectful our team were to the other team.

We could not be prouder of these individuals.
