Felixstowe Academy to Host Parenting Support Sessions

Felixstowe Academy will be hosting a Triple P Teen Group at the Garrison Lane Campus through June and July.

Teen Triple P is run for four 2 hour group sessions, followed by two to three scheduled weekly phone calls from group facilitator, finishing with a final group session. 

The group sessions use DVDs, workbooks, discussion and rehearsal to look at positive parenting and strategies to increase positive behaviour and deal with challenging behaviour. 

It emphasises positive communication and planning ahead to prevent or be prepared for a range of issues.  All parents receive a free 110 page Triple P workbook which contains all the programme materials.

Triple P Teen Group – for parents of young people 10+

  • Week 1 – positive parenting
  • Week 2 – encouraging appropriate behaviour
  • Week 3 – managing problem behaviour
  • Week 4 – dealing with risky behaviour
  • Weeks 5-7 (phone calls) – implementing parenting routines and feedback
  • Week 8 - programme close and celebration

Course facilitators include Ms V Berry from Felixstowe Academy, Julie Valentine (Family Support Practitioner Coastal Integrated Team) and Kay Witchalls (Parenting co-ordinator).

The course starts on Wednesday 5th June and each session runs from 10am through to 12pm.
