The opening day of the new academic year for our Sixth Form was all about team building and integration.

In response to the Student Voice of the Sixth Form Council which requested that the year start off with more integration activities to mix both Year 12 and 13 together, the entire Sixth Form spent the first teaching day of the new academic year at Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford Campus.

Sapphire Worlledge thoroughly enjoyed the experience saying ‘The games were quite fun and the team building exercises showed us how to use our brains to figure things out and made us talk to each other.’

Praising the delivery of the event, Rebecca Atkinson said ‘The ambassadors were  very informative about the university - a good experience.’

Andrew Jacklin added ‘We were encouraged to learn from our new experiences and shown how to settle in in order to get the best from our academic subjects.’

Both Year 12 and 13 students were mixed together for the first time to undertake personality profiling and participate in a range of teambuilding activities. Students were also given a tour of the university campus.

New Sixth Form student Beth Brown felt the day was a great way to start the new academic year saying ‘We made friends with some Year 12s from the other campus and also with some Year 13s.  If it was meant to integrate us, it worked!
