Jordan Achieves His Gold Award!

The Academy welcomed back Jordan Hagger recently as he returned to collect his ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) Gold award from Principal Mr Salter and his Learning Support Assistant, Mrs Barrett.

ASDAN’s Personal Development Programmes (Bronze, Silver and Gold) offers imaginative ways of developing, recording and certificating a wide range of young people’s personal qualities, abilities and achievements, as well as introducing them to new activities and challenges. All the programmes link to nationally recognised qualifications.
Mr Salter, pictured with Jordan and Mrs Barrett, was delighted to present the Gold Award, which recognised the personal progress Jordan has made throughout his time at Felixstowe Academy.

Mrs Barrett has enjoyed working with Jordan during his time in secondary education and was not only delighted by Jordan’s achievement, but also by his personal development over the different levels of the course.  Mrs Barrett said ‘Jordan has matured into a fine  young adult. For the last three years I have been working with Jordan to achieve his Bronze, Silver and Gold ASDAN. Jordan worked hard using various skills to achieve this. I have not known a Gold Certificate to be awarded at the Academy or any of our legacy schools for many years.  I am very proud of Jordan for achieving his Gold Certificate.’

As he reflected on his time on the ASDAN course, Jordan (an authority and enthusiastic player of Warhammer!) summed up his experience by saying ‘The course was really hard work and made me try things I wouldn’t normally have a go at.  I remember feeling totally exhausted after going on the climbing wall in Stowmarket - but it felt great to reach the very top!’

Jordan is now studying on a small animal course at Otley College and has secured work experience at reptile retailer Felixstowe Exotics.  He is thoroughly enjoying both his course and working with a Bearded Dragon!  We all wish Jordan every success in the future.
