Willingness to Change Brings Results for Students

Mr Williams highlights that early entry English exam results shows positive progress being made for students across Year 11...

Since the start of the new academic year there have been a number of significant changes made to the Academy, not only in terms of culture and ethos but mainly around our core business - understanding the need to constantly improve the quality of teaching and learning, leading to better outcomes linked to progress and achievement.

I must say at this point, that staff and students have been exceptional in the way they have embraced these changes and there is a real sense of optimism and high expectation around the Academy.

On that note, it gives me great pleasure in sharing the positive news about our iGCSE English language results. 78% of the year group sat the exam in November, of which, 75% achieved A*-C.  So in terms of the entire cohort, we have already improved on last year’s summer results by 5% (59% A*-C) with expected levels of progress improving by 7% (56%) and more than expected progress by 9% (27%).

Individually, there were some outstanding performances by students, namely Summer Walker and Kit Harold who made five levels of progress to achieve a grade B and Harry Edwards who made six levels of progress to achieve an A*!

A huge thank you to the English team and Teaching Assistants, who believed in the students and stopped at nothing to help them achieve these positive outcomes.

Mr Williams, Principal
