Welcome to the Felixstowe Academy website. As Principal I am proud to lead Felixstowe Academy during this exciting time where we have just achieved our highest ever examination results!

Welcome from the Headteacher of Garrison Campus

Here at the Felixstowe Academy we provide an education for those in the local community. We are a truly comprehensive and inclusive ‘community’ school catering for the needs of a wide range of students. Our specialism is focused on the Visual and Performing Arts and as such we are able to provide a rich and diverse offering in this area of the curriculum for those who have or want to develop these particular talents. However, we are certainly not a ‘fame’ academy and we excel in many other areas of the curriculum too.

A vision for success…

We have a clear vision for the academy and believe very much in developing each and every one of our students so that they can achieve their true potential. We provide the opportunities for success; we develop in our students the skills that they will need in the future; we help them develop as individuals but emphasise their place within the community, helping them to think about and care for others; we guide our students to enable them to become independent learners and good team members.

Part of our success has to be attributed to the fact that we place great emphasis upon the positive relationships we have with the parents/carers of our students. We truly believe in developing a positive and genuine partnership between home and school to ensure that together we can maximize the life chances available to our students; to ensure that they are ‘challenged to achieve!’

We very much hope that if you decide to join our community here at Felixstowe Academy you will see all of this in action! Our students are bright, articulate young people and they will be only too willing to invite you in and show you around their school.

Welcome from the Headteacher of Maidstone Campus

Whilst believing that exam results are very important for success in adult life, at Felixstowe Academy, education is about developing the whole person. It is our role to help our students develop as independent learners and good team members who care for the school community as a whole.

We expect high standards of work and behaviour from all our pupils and we apply the principles of positive behaviour management to support them as they develop into young adults.

We offer a rich programme of extra-curricular activities which include:

• Drama
• Dance
• Sports
• Music
• Aircraft Modelling

to name but a few.

As we progress through this new academic year we have set ourselves demanding targets to improve further on this year’s results but we know that we can do it!

Active learning is very much at the centre of education here at Felixstowe Academy. We encourage students to lead, direct and interact as part of their learning.

We believe that partnership is central to achievement and progress and we strongly encourage parents to work with us to secure every opportunity for students to achieve.
