Heads of Sixth Form
Felixstowe Academy Sixth Form is located on two sites and most students access lessons and resources at both sites. Students will have a “home” site, usually where they attended as KS4 students, where they have a form tutor and a Head of Sixth Form. These people play an important role in ensuring the pastoral care of each student and are responsible for monitoring and supporting academic progress. Each site has a distinct ethos which compliments that of the Sixth Form as a whole.

Mr D James
Head of Sixth Form - Garrison Campus
On the Garrison Lane Campus students have a Study Centre equipped with books and exam board materials for use during study time. In the Study Centre, students have access to a screen and projector to help them practise any presentations they may have to deliver in class and a computer suite for online research.
Students whose home site is the Garrison Lane Campus have an assigned tutor who will provide guidance and support throughout their time in the Sixth Form. Tutors follow a schedule of activities during form time designed to facilitate the opportunities for one to one mentoring and subject specific peer mentoring by our Subject Ambassadors. They also have time to develop a range of key skills such as public speaking. The schedule is as follows:
Monday - Mentoring/Subject Ambassadors
Tuesday - Mentoring/Current affairs
Wednesday - Skills Day
Thursday - Inter-form sport
Friday - Assemblies

Miss F Todd
Head of Sixth Form - Maidstone Campus
On the Maidstone Road Campus students have allocated library lessons where they are able to study with access to specialist Sixth Form books, exam board materials, and ICT facilities. There are bookable laptops available that students may use either in the library or in one of the study areas in the Sixth Form block.
Students whose home site is the Maidstone Road Campus have an experienced tutor who will provide support and guidance throughout their time in the Sixth Form. The tutors also work with their forms to widen their horizon through discussing current affairs, having inter-form quizzes and learning new skills. There is also a very active Sixth Form Committee which works with the Head of Sixth Form to develop the Sixth Form and organise social and charity events which develop the “fun” side of Sixth Form.
Sixth Formers at both schools are also actively encouraged to participate in extra curricular activities to enrich their chances of being successful when applying to University or Employment. Students can enrol on the ‘Adopt-a-Teacher’ programme where they work with staff and students in lessons lower down in the school demonstrating that they are committed to supporting their learning community. They can also contribute to the School Newsletter or even creating You-Tube newsreels by joining the Sixth Form Media Team which operates in both schools.
