Welcome to Felixstowe Sixth Form

Felixstowe Sixth Form is an established and successful Sixth Form and whether you are an existing student in a Felixstowe school or a student at another establishment you are very welcome to join us. We are an inclusive Sixth Form who offer a broad curriculum which has a good balance between traditional A’ levels, BTECs and opportunities for students who wish to follow a one year link course. Our aim is to give students the skills, opportunities and qualifications needed to progress and make the transition to the adult world successfully.

The Sixth Form strives to give you the opportunity to fulfil your potential both academically and as a young adult. As a Sixth Form student you will benefit from excellence in the classroom where your learning is of paramount importance. Staff will work with you to support your progress within each subject where you can expect to receive targeted advice on how you can achieve your goals.

Alongside academic successes we encourage you to think about how you can enrich your development as a young adult.  Students “pledge” to achieve successes in all walks of life from taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme to supporting Sixth Form Charity events. We want you to be the students of choice for universities and employers and young adults who have developed the skills and interests that prepare them for life in the 21st Century. We also want you to enjoy your time in the Sixth Form.

The Sixth Form is a partnership between you, the staff, your peers and the local community. You will be expected to work hard, show commitment and achieve success. The role played by your parents and guardians is an important one in helping you achieve your potential and there are special evenings which give them advice about what they can do to support you and help you succeed.

The Sixth Form benefits from an experienced team of form tutors who are there to provide you with individual support. They will support your academic progress as well as provide advice concerning your future. Students who require focussed help will be also mentored by senior members of staff.

We aim to provide academic excellence in a supportive environment where you develop into young adults who can successfully meet the challenges of adult life. Being a member of a hard working and energetic Sixth Form is an exciting and rewarding experience and we look forward to welcoming you to Felixstowe Sixth Form in September 2011.
