Peer Mentors

Peer mentoring is a listening scheme designed to raise the awareness of the value of talking through concerns with others. A small group of suitable students from Year 10 upwards are identified by the Achievement Director, Pastoral Support Manager and Student Voice Coordinator.

The students receive training in:
  • dealing with bullying
  • emotions
  • empathy
  • open questioning and
  • positive listening
On completion of their training, students are then available for:
  • supporting the transition programme from KS2 to KS3
  • acting as a positive role model to approach in the corridor
  • input into assemblies
  • working with students during tutor time
  • being pro-active in supporting vulnerable students who may need some additional help or support
